Exploring languages and scripts

Browse languages by family and region, and follow each one to the writing systems it uses — past and present.

Every language on the platform has a profile page: where it is spoken, which family it belongs to, which scripts it is written in, and which historical stages it passed through.

Scripts are first-class citizens too. A script page shows which languages use it, so you can trace how writing systems spread across regions and centuries.

Use the Languages page to browse alphabetically, or start from a country page to see the languages connected to a place.
